BNSF Family Web Design

Every year, my family throws a huge family reunion where we all come together to have fun and catch up with one another. This tradition was originally started back in 1977 by 4 Blount sisters named Mary Augusta, Anna Belle, Jannie and Estella. The 4 of them organized a huge cook out that brought everyone together. Since then the reunion has evolved into an annual weekend of activities where we eat, socialize and create lasting memories together. The Blount Newsome Sutton Freeman Family Reunion has been hosted in a variety of places all over the US including Raleigh, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., Selma, Alabama and Queens, New York…just to name a few. This year marks the 40th anniversary for the reunion and to celebrate, I designed the BNSF Family website!

Gym Class 4 You – Web Design

Did you love PE as a kid? Some of my fondest childhood memories were made when playing games like flag football, Red Rover, or simply running around having fun with other kids. When Shawnna Penn asked me to design a website for her business, I had instant nostalgia! Shawnna is the owner and lead specialist of Gym Class 4 You, an organization that provides fitness programs and recreational sports for special needs children. These sports programs are designed to meet the individual needs of each participant, and help promote high self-esteem, healthy self-image, and motor skill development.

Aerial CLT – Brand Design

Aerial CLT is a dance, yoga and circus arts studio based in Charlotte, NC. They’re a fun and interactive studio that offers a variety of classes for anyone looking for a new way to get fit. When starting this project, it was important that I incorporated the movements of aerial dance in the design. Watching the dancers in action brought specific words to mind such as graceful, fluid, energetic, peaceful and active. These words describe the exact emotions I wanted to communicate with the Aerial CLT brand.

Sasha’s Natural Hair Salon – Brand Design

Sasha’s Natural Hair Salon caters to women with natural, curly hair who want their hair to be healthy and sassy. Being an advocate for natural hair myself, I was excited to get started working on this project! Sasha’s isn’t your everyday salon – they stand out among the other salons because they do more than just hair, they transform women by bringing out their confidence and sass with beautiful hair styling. When coming up with descriptive words to describe Sasha’s feminine, classy, glamorous, and bold immediately came to mind – and of course I wanted to incorporate all them into the brand. To start, I created a mood board with images that I felt best represented the salon and the type of women Sasha’s caters to.

A3C – Web Design

Music festivals are fun and exciting, similar to how I would describe my experience creating the A3C web design and logo. The A3C Music Festival is a hip hop conference where thousands of artists and djs come to perform and connect with the hip hop community. The festival is like a big “hip hop family reunion” where fans can come out and hear their favorite artists perform live over the course of 5 days! When thinking about the style of the brand and the A3C web design, certain words came to mind like “upbeat”, “engaging”, “music”, “energy”, “hip hop”, “edgy”. With these words in mind, I started a Pinterest board, collecting images that reflected the A3C’s branding style. Once I had around 20-30 pins, I narrowed the selection by choosing the top 10-15 that best matched the style for the A3C web design. Using these final images and adding in a few color swatches I arranged everything in a mood board.
