Styles by B – Logo Design
When Bianca Burns contacted me to create a logo design for her hair salon, Styles by B, I was pretty excited. Bianca is a licensed cosmetologist who’s been running her full service salon since 2012 and doing hair for over 10 years (and counting)! This extraordinary salon not only provides healthy haircare and styling, but also professional barber cutting and massage services. At Styles by B, the stylists take pride in their clients’ hair and work hard to make sure they look good. Likewise, Bianca thought it was time to do the same for the Styles by B brand.
Styles by B Mood Board
The mood board images help build the visual “feel” of the Styles by B brand, which Bianca defined to me as classy, modern, and beautiful. The interior look of the salon is sleek with stylish decor and visitors can expect to enjoy a relaxing and professional atmosphere while getting their hair done. With all this in mind, I designed a mood board with a combination of textures, colors, patterns and images that help create a bold, sleek and sophisticated feel for the brand.
Styles by B Logo Design
The Styles by B logo is bold, sophisticated and classy. It was important to Bianca that her logo was something her clients would recognize immediately and remember for years to come. The geometric diamond shape is definitive and helps bring the whole logo together as one iconic symbol. The scripted “B” inside the diamond is a stark contrast to its surrounding shape, which ultimately helps it stand out more. The “B” also communicates a soft, feminine touch and adds a friendly and inviting feel to the brand.
Styles by B Branding Board
There are two main logo colors for Styles by B: a deep, classic marsala burgundy and a timeless gold accent color. Since Bianca told me she is a big fan of red, I incorporated poppy red into the color palette along with black plum and warm gray. The two alternative logos provide design flexibility for flyers, business cards and other marketing materials Bianca may need for the salon. The optional tagline can be used on signage to help distinguish different sections of the salon (styling, cutting, massage, etc) or as a decorative header for stationery. The main brand font is Lato and it is used for large bodies of text, (such as this one) while Modern No. 20 is the designated font for headers and other call-out text. The style guide is completed with textures, an icon and Styles by B branded formatting characters (bullet points and underline). I also designed a watermark Bianca can use to protect photos of her work and the salon.
